How to get started
Our country has not seen the boom in golf yet, but those youngsters that get introduced to the sport are enthusiastic, which leads us to believe that if we are successful in making the sport more accessible, we may see many more young golfers knock on the doors of golf clubs. Is there a good approach for parents to follow when they wish to introduce their son or daughter to golf and how does one get them interested to try the “game of a lifetime”? Ideally, the initiative comes from the child itself. More likely, it is you that wants your child to share with you the pleasures and values of the game of golf. |
In either case, the best way to get them interested is to find a program that your child will like and find exciting and fun to follow. The majority of golf clubs offer Junior programs and stages during the school holidays and summer months, but also outside these special periods. These programs have the advantage that they are specially designed for young people, offer them the opportunity to make golf friends and learn that golf is fun. |
